Programming a Key / Epic Failure

Hello Everyone,

I purchased a new unprogrammed key from my dealership and tried to program it tonight closely following the instructions in the owners guide.

To summarize, I have two keys that are already programmed. I inserted the first key, turned the switch to the run position, waited about 5 seconds, set the key to lock position and removed the first key. Next, I inserted the second key, quickly after the first, and set the switch to run position. At this point in about ten seconds I expected a chime and the security light to flash, (it never did). Thus, I was not able to move on to the next step and insert the third (new key) for programming.

Does anyone have any ideas here?

Mine is a 2009 Challenger SRT8 6/speed manual in case it matters.

Tony

Umm...why are you talking about garage door openers, when he's talking about a car key?

So regarding the key programming, I ended up taking it to the dealer. Yeah, I paid for it. Just couldn't get it done on my own.

I gots the same problem.
Dodge states that the owners manual instructions
should not be there for the 09 model owners manuals
but some of the 08 manuals were left over so they used
them in some 09 Challys rather than throwing them away....
FOBIK key programming problems
