My Gig

Anyone have any experience with the My GIG system? Is it worth getting or should I put an aftermarket system in.

Currently I have an Alpine system with their Blackbird nav plug in. It doesn't work well in my '07 Yukon due to GM's pita electronic bus system and I'm putting the factory radio back in. I want to keep it for the Challenger but I am curious how the MY Gig system is.

I have an iPhone and would like something that seamlessly wor together. I can use the bluetooth with my Alpine but my steeringwheel buttons don't control the phone and it looks like in the Challenger they will.

Anyone use this in their Challenger or other Dodge vehicle?

I haven't used the system yet (don't have my R/T yet) but I ordered it because it is supposed to work seamlessly uploading music files from an Ipod or Zune or from the CD in the changer. I like the idea of having my favorite few thousand songs on a hard drive in the R/T rather than having to search through (not to mention store) piles of CDs in the car. Other than the hard drive, this is the same system that's in my '06 300 C; the system has great sound and has worked well for the past 3 years. The Sirius Sattelite Radio is great too; I wouldn't trade it. Great stations and you get the signal throughout the country. I think that it's worth it.

Paul, my wife has Sirius in her Passat and satalite radio is the way to go.

Does you 300C have the nav system with the My GIG? Are you getting that with you R/T?

Anything you notice about how it functions that you dislike?

Thanks

Peter

I don't have the Nav system (or MyGig) in the '06 300 C. I leased the 300C and got a fantastic deal, but had to lease one that was on the lot. The only option it was missing was the Nav system (MyGig wasn't available yet). I did order MyGig/Nav on the new R/T. I am impressed with the system's advertised capabilities. I played with a MyGig/Nav on a Charger SuperBee one afternoon while I was waiting for a repair at the dealership and thought the system was intuitive and easy to use. I especially like the multiple levels of screen brightness / dimming for day / night driving. Some systems are too bright at night; this one seems to dim to a low level that shouldn't distract the driver at night. You might want to stop at your local dealership and do the same....see what you think about MyGig. Enjoy your new Challenger.

MyGig with NAV is only available on '08 cars known as the RES radio. As an option for '09 navigation is not standard with MyGig this is known as the REN radio, the RES will still be available. The previous NAV radios were great. (IMHO)

cliffs: 2008 MyGig/NAV is standard on SRT8 (RES radio). 2009 REN radio available same as RES except the NAV. REN or RES radio is optional.

I live in Hawaii, The nav system is unavailable to me, so the Mygig was also unavailable (so they say).

Shame, cause i really liked the features. But I did get the ATL option, which is the 7 speakers and the 368 watt amp. Should be interesting.

Aloha Lupoman... You live in my favorite place on earth. Haven't been there in a long time (too long), but probably won't get back there since my wife won't take a ship or fly....Can't quite figure out how to drive there yet.

I had the 378 watt 7 speaker system in my 300 C and liked it so much that I ordered it again in my Challenger R/T. You'll enjoy it; it has rich full sound and puts out enough volume to make you half deaf....or so...without distortion.

What is the factory destination charge / shipping cost to Hawaii? How long does it take to get a car delivered to Hawaii?

Enjoy Hawaii and enjoy your new Challenger.

I got MyGig and I tried to load my music up a couple times. It won't upload the music from my flash drive. It will get to a certain percentage then the whole thing will stop and reset itself with no music on it. It isnt the hard drive or anything though because if i try to upload a CD it works. The only problem is I have 4000 songs so using a CDs woudnlt be practical at all. Anyone know what might be wrong?

Yeah....We're Classic Rockers too! Fleetwood Mac, Tull, Jimi, Eagles, Petty, Led Zep, Van Halen, too many to name, but you get the drift...
Also get into some Blues...John Lee Hooker, B.B. King.... and some crossover Country in the mix too.

Looks like my destination is $625; the Ship to Paradise charge must be the $725 portion....small price to pay to live there.
Thanks for the reply. Catch you later.
