How to check VIN?

Does anyone know the best way to check out a VIN to see what the production date of car was? I think I have a low Dodge number.

You can got the Chrysler customer assistance page and they will lend a hand as well. I sent an email for my build sheet and they actually sent it to me..

you could try customerassist@daimlerchrysler.com

VIN - Fullscreen can be helpful

If you are looking at a new 2008 - 2009 challenger.. It wold break out like this:

[1] Country of Origin
2 = Canada
[2] Assembler
B = Dodge
[3] Vehicle type
3 = Passenger
[4] GVWR & Pass. Safety
L = Restraint System Advanced Multistage Front Air Bags Sales Code (CG3) With Side Air Bags
[5] Vehicle Line
J = Challenger
[6] Series
4 = SE
5 = R/T
7 = SRT8
[7] Body Style
4 = 2 Door Pillared Hardtop
[8] Engine
T = 5.7L HEMI
V = 3.5L 6-Cyl
W = 6.1L HEMI
[9] Check Digit
0-9 or X. This value is used in an algorithm to validate the VIN. See Wikipedia for details.
[10] Model Year
8 = 2008
9 = 2009
[11] Assembly Plant
H = Brampton Assembly
[12-17] Vehicle Build Sequence
These last 6 are your serial #

So it's highly probable that every Challenger will start with the VIN: 2B3LJ
I'm not sure this gives you your build number however??

quite possably on the fender tags as well.

if the door tags are on the origional doors!

By stating "low number " i think he is asking about # made not early production.

Hey there,

I know that my car was built in LA, California on September 23rd, 1969. The last six digits of the VIN are 106026. I'm pretty sure that all Plymouth/Dodge/Chrysler VIN start at 100,001. Just curious to know if anyone knows how many of the 6025 were Dodge Challengers?
