Paint seems thin to me

Something I am noticing is the paint seems somewhat thin on the DW Blue. I was washing it today and noticed a very small chip on the trunk lid the layers seemed non existant and thin I sure hope this isnt a sign of things to come. I absolutly love this car.

I bought my car with a chip on the front fender. I think its only chipping because our paint is so new. If not... then you have to blame it on the thin edges of our fenders/trunk lids etc. I'm just going to grab some matching touch up paint to fix my chip.

I agree

I thought maybe it was just me but ya the paint on my car is chipping really easy. Its like every day I go out i find a new ding thats right down to the undercoat. and im taking care not to follow to close to people or ride on roads with stones.
The paint does seem really thin and now im wondering if I should have taken the diamond kote the dealer was trying to sell me. ive got one of the B5 blue cars so I hope touchup paint is easy to find through the dealer. then i think im getting it diamond koted because the paint seems really thin like you said. i cant take seeing my baby with dings in her.

I think it is generally known that the pain is on the thin side. I don't know if it's a Dodge thing, a Challenger thing, or whatever but I can attest that my car's paint is not very thick either. If you're talking about an edge then forget it! Don't even look at it or it will chip! I am seriously looking at getting a clear coat cover like the ones at invisiblemask dot com (sorry, I don't have 5 posts yet).

Kind of expensive but worth my sanity as I just got a door ding and I am already obsessing. The only disappointing thing on my Challenger so far!

No doubt it looks fine but just give it a little ding and you will see that it's not. I have a 2010 Plum Crazy. Just two days ago I foolishly used a metal chair to get to the roof. As I moved it to clean some more I barely touched the door with it. I didn't make a scratch (phew!) but it did make a mark in the paint. I was able to hide it with some quick detailer and it will probably polish out but still, I have to believe the clear coat and paint layers are very thin.

It has me worried so much that I put my car cover on all the time now. There is a 3 year old in the house and I don't want to go crazy every time she plays outside.
