Question

Now has anybody ever used a car cover? I mentioned it to a fellow car lover and he said he will never own one because of scratches.

Dirt is on the car. Put the cover over the car. Take the cover off. Dirt is moved and you get scratches.

Legit?

I own a car cover. Just make sure your car is clean before you put it on.

All the car covers I've owned even the real expensive ones, let pollen go right through the material, especially when it rains. I would make sure your car cover doesn't let the car breathe. good luck.

I've not had any problems. Get a decent cover so it's soft inside. I agree with Gen-X, Unless the car is filthy I doubt you'll get scratches..

I've seen a few on eBay and MoparSupercenter I think. I was kinda worried about the cover on a dirty car too. Never had a car worthy of a cover so I'm not real sure what to get yet. So sad, huh?

Have you considered buying a portable garage. Im going to be buying mine from a place called Rhino Shelters. For 500 dollars you can have a real nice all season set up. I live in New England so I get all four seasons...

My last couple houses had available garages, but my current house has a garage full of my roommates crap. Hence the future purchase of a portable garage. Hope this helps.

Edit: Also for car covers, if your car is clean and you have the cover completely secure from wind etc., you shouldnt have any scratching issues.

Scratches seem to be most noticeable on black paint...
Invest in a California Duster, but only use it if your car has a nice coat of wax and minimal dust/pollen on it. Then put a cover over it. I recommend Covercraft Wheathershield covers and Griots Garage wax products... They have worked well on my black 05 Mustang GT and Jeep green 07 Wrangler

If it starts raining before you can get it into a garage or cover it, don't bother using the duster -just be sure to roll the cover off when removing... be careful not to let it slide on the hood.

You want a somewhat breathable cover to avoid those nasty water spots afterwards.

The cover that came with my Mopar Interior Package is advertised by Mopar as being a water blocker (actually, "weather resistant"). The material that it's made from is named "Block-It". It just saw it's first gentle rain (with no wind, by the way). When I picked up the front to check the claim, there was water all over the car. They sell this same cover as a Mopar accessory for somewhere around $300. Just for informational purposes, it'll be fine for an in-the-garage cover, but forget about weather protection altogether...

It does fit well, with the exception that the mirror pockets are about 6 inches too long, as though they figured that most of us order the optional towing mirrors!
