Injected Engineering
They said they could tune my twin turbos. They said they were meticulous and stood behind their work no matter what. So I made the 350mi. trip, twice, so much dor through! Over $3000 spend with them, lodging, car rental, etc. and this is what I got.I have asked them many times over these several months to help me out but they simply ignore my emails. They are even refusing to send me a copy of the tune that cost me so much. The result below, an new engine, turbos and over $12k more.
Injected Engineering and I have resolved this matter. Last edited by RapidTransit : 07-31-2009 at 10:25 AM. |

Quick question... You twin turbo'ed a stock 6.1L? This would never work no matter how good the tuner! The ringlands on the motor are two weak and thats exactly what broke on those pistons... Sorry to see it but its the design of the stock pistons. If I can be of any help, please call me at 979-885-1300 as we have built several Twin Turbo Hemis, but all with built motors!

Injected Engineering Response
Hope everyone had a great 4th of July! Please take the time to read our response.
Since 2004 Injected Engineering has serviced, tuned and repaired over 1500 high performance vehicles without any outstanding complaints. As you can imagine we have seen our share of vehicles in all makes, models and combinations. Our technicians have well over 15 years of experience with custom builds, installation, service and tuning. When an engine fails in this manner there can be many contributing factors. Typically with late model Hemi engines this is a common problem on supercharged or turbo combinations due to insufficient piston material on the top ringland of the piston. Many reputable tuners, experienced engine builders, performance shops and Mopar enthusiasts have experienced similar engine damage with the undue stress of aftermarket modifications on their engine. All of us with a performance vehicle enjoy the power and torque that is created with the added modifications. However, when a vehicle has been extremely modified, it is important to be aware of the risks that come along with those modifications. With that being said, the work that was completed by Injected Engineering on this vehicle was top notch. As with all of our customers, we educate and caution them to be very careful when exceeding the limits of a stock engine. We have a complete history of documentation on this particular vehicle with a full description of the customer’s requirements for additional boost beyond the recommended limits of a stock engine. Even so, and because customer satisfaction is our top priority, we extended the opportunity on 3-26-09 for Injected Engineering to diagnose and correct this problem with one full day of mechanical labor at no charge. Although it seems the problem has since been corrected our offer still stands for any remaining labor that needs to be completed. In closing, we have a high moral obligation to discuss these matters privately with our clients on the phone or face-to-face and will always fly above the clouds to resolve any issues where possible. We choose to not engage in email or public conversations when emotions are running high. I’m sure some of you have experienced the wrongful interpretation of emails and forum posts when emotions take over in these types of situations, only adding to the frustration and delaying of resolving such matters. We invite the many friends and loyal customers of Injected Engineering to provide a fair and honest assessment of how we have handled their particular situation. Please visit us at InjectedEngineering.com and thank you for your understanding and objectivity in this matter. |

I am still waiting for Injected Engineering to make good on this.
there has been a very limited amount of conversation comming from them which, at this point, seems to be a stalling tactic , hoping this issue will die down. For my part, it will only become more intense untill a resolution is reached. |

I would like to address a reasonable question that has come up on several of the forums in regard to my complaint. That being, Why would I attempt to boost an engine with a stock bottom end?
Let me start by saying I feel I am like probably 80% of the owners of our wonderful rides in that: A) Like most other members, I don’t consider myself a “mechanic” though like me, I suspect most are handy with tools. I grew up changing water pumps, plugs, swapping out carbs and even installing the occasional shift kit. Never a piston, or went inside a motor. I have plenty of common sense, I do minor work but believe in hiring professionals for the professional work. I’m paying for and therefore demand professional work B) I look towards this and other forums as a valuable source of information for mods, common concerns and OEM complaint resolution. I have been a member of several LX brand forums for almost 3 years, since my initial purchase. Like most of us, I was pleasantly surprised when, I found myself “teaching” some of the techs at the local dealership, that a second set of screens was available by simply holding down the 2 buttons on the steering wheel, LoL!! While all auto forums have their value, I believe these LX forums to be unique in that we members tend to have a few more grey hairs and therefore our posts are almost always intended to be spot on. We tell less big fish stories and usually base our posts more on fact or the honest attempt, rather than testosterone. So, when considering a particular mod, I did what most do and scour the forums, trying my best to evaluate everything. The vendors with a healthy dose of skepticism and with the most weight almost always given to the individual poster. The consensus of this particular case was that boost was safe on a stock bottom end @ 6 lbs. With a proper tune. I combined this with my own intended use and habits. That of a normal 50+ man who’s car is primarily for shows, the occasional out of town family trip and an anticipated trip to the local 1/8th mile track a couple times a year. I installed the turbo kit myself, loaded the base tune from the Mfgr. and called IE to refine the tuning. They asked for and were given the mod list and history of the car. I asked them if I needed to haul the car or if the base tune would do, given the 350-mile trip to their shop. I was told as long as I didn’t go into boost, it would be safe to drive to them. The car was never put into boost or even close, per the original Mfgr’s instructions until IE did so during their tuning. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the car when it arrived at IE. They had the laptop hooked up from the start, yet even after being told there was bubbling going on in the coolant tank, they dismissed this as nothing and chose to continue. The car was totally in the hands of the experts and the result is in their lap. It’s time they step up and stop trying to pass the buck. __________________ |
