Hi from NH

Hi all,

I’ve been lurking around the forum for weeks, as I do this haunted house thing (hauntedoverload) and haven’t had much time for anything else. The forum has been very helpful and I like seeing the enthusiasm of the other owners.

I have been a Challenger fan since I was a preteen in the 70s. Since I was 15 I wanted a 70 R/T 440 or 426. I never found one that I could afford or was not to big of a project. I had a 68 Barracuda fastback with a 340 but it just didn’t do it for me. When Dodge brought the Challenger back I couldn’t wait to see them. I figured I’d end up buying one used in a couple of years but one trip to check them out at the dealer ended that thought. I bought my 09 Deep Water Blue Metallic off the lot in mid October. This is the first new car I ever bought, and I’ve had plenty in 28 years of driving. I can’t believe the attention it draws. I have people honking at me at stop lights and every stop at a gas station has involved a conversation with complete strangers.

The dealers son ordered it for himself, but it came in early and he couldn’t sell his 07 Charger (imagine that in this economy). So it was sitting on the lot and I ended up with a good deal. They even took my 05 Kawi ZZR600 in trade. He ordered it kind of basic, so to get it the way I want, I have some things to do. I’ve added the T-handle, door sill guards, U-Connect Bluetooth/voice module, hood struts (what the hell were they thinking?), 5.7L hood emblems (pic attached), and rear spoiler emblems (another pic attached). For the spoiler I got the grill emblems cut off the tabs and used 3M emblem tape. I think this R/T emblem looks better than the larger Charger one. I went with the new text emblem as this isn’t a 70s Challenger, but understand why some like the old script. (I have one from a 70 of my buddies that he totaled.L) I ordered window tinting today. I’m going to stripe it similar to a 71 with the stock 09 dual upper deck hood stripes and the ¾ dual R/T side stripes. I hope to get it done before it snows here, but if I don’t it will be the spring because it’s never going to see road salt (I have a Jeep for that). I know a guy that does great airbrushing so the engine cover may get a paint job, but I haven’t thought much more past that.

So that’s my lengthy intro. Sorry about the picture quality, took em with my Blackberry.

Dan
