Yeah 3-4 ears sounds right, but thats fine with me I can wait cause I can just ride my 1970 Challenger around for now. Besides it looks just like the concept anyway, Hemi orange, Rallye Hood with stripe, Except I don't have big a$$ wheels like the concept. But I do have a 505 in it so I'm happy.

The way it's looking, I don't think we'll see any in our price range period. Unless it turns out they put the 6.4 in there just to be a stang killer. But what good is it as a stang killer when its going to cost twice as much as a GT and still wind up at a disadvantage against the GT500. Yeah, the 6.4 will have it on raw HP, but the weight and traction you're gonna get off the GT500's solid axle are gonna negate all of that.

I don't know...

...if it will be all that bad.

I've seen a few indications that the Challenger will be priced similar to the current Charger, probably with the same engine options (5.7 MDS Hemi or 6.1 SRT). Which means high $20's to low $30's for the 5.7 and low to mid $40's for the SRT. That would rule out the big engine for me, but I could live with the 5.7, especially if DC finds a suitable manual transmission.

Also, introduction will be in late 2008. If they sell 30,000 units or so in that year, production would be higher the next (full) year.

Let's keep our hopes up. I'll give up getting a Cummins Ram if I can get a Challenger.

(Now I'll just go on hoping they will build a stripped down, no a/c and crank window 6.1L 6-speed!)

I agree.........if DCX installs a decent 5-speed manual trans in there, that will be the ticket.

Yeah, I also would love a Cummins-Turbo Diesel Ramcharger/PowerWagon That would be an AWESOME SUV.... Massive torq & great MPG to boot...

Anyway I am one of those guys that likes the idea of the "AutoStik" tranny. My wifes 2003 PT-GT Turbo Cruiser has it annd it gives us the best of both worlds ,allowing us to drive it as a "clutchless" manual or as a normal automatic tranny in everyday use...

With regards to potential pricing, Chevrolet builds between 30,000 & 35,000 Corvettes each year. Priced in the $50K - $65K range. You see new Mustangs on every corner in that 195,000 were built in the first year. ( Good to see people buying American built in plants with decent wages. ) Not the same with Corvettes. My $.02 is that when a commodity is a bit more scarce / exclusive, people will pay a bit of a premium. It does reduce the pool of potential buyers, but they will depreciate and individuals will be able to acquire one within a fairly short amount of time.

Okay, I wouldn't feel the same if I were 18 again looking in the showroom window at the balck Hemi 1970 Challenger I had no way of purchasing. ( Mopped floors in a garage and installed tires to get by. ) But it did inspire me and left an impression. Now I'll sell one of my Corvettes and order a new Challenger when the window opens.

I may be alone here, but I will be happy if they only offer this car with no less than eight cylinders. That brings the car's status up there more like a Corvette. Look at the Mustang- the v-6 versions are everywhere. The styling is not that different from a GT either. When you see one, you ask "Is that a GT, or just a six?" A Corvette is a Corvette. The Chalenger should not be available in wuss rental car versions. It might be bad business sense, but as a buyer, that's what I want. When people see the Challenger's on the street, they should only ask "Which v-8 does that thing have in it?" No poser versions here. If the car only runs for three years, that's better for the lucky people who got one. Just my $0.02.
