I like it. How many of us get to drive a brand new, top of the line, vehicile every year? Now, if only Tom can get them to test drive an original '70 Hemi Challenger.

There is a guy named Dave Blake who owns three original e-body hemi convertibles, 70' Challenger (plum), 70' Cuda (h-orange), and a 71' Cuda (the most valuable). He bought them in the 80's from the low to mid $20K ranges (and a buick GSX for $11k). I can remember people thought he was nuts... Then ten or twelve years ago, somone offered him $250K for any of the three hemi convertibles and he declined. People in Phoenix thought he was nuts... Then a few years ago he was offered a million for any of the three cars and he turned it down. Yea, everyone thought he was nuts.... Then a Cuda not as rare as his 71 went for 2 million right here at Barrett Jackson (Scottsdale) and everyone now realized how smart this guy is that owns a little machine shop down in South Phoenix. Between him and the guy in Scottsdale that bought that 2 million dollar Cuda (he has other rare mopars too), I think we have the finest collection of E-body Hemi Convertibles on the planet. And by the way, Dave drove the 70 Cuda to the Central Ave. Cruise last year! WOW!

Wow, i wish i had that motherload of mopars. My dad tells me all the time how sick he is for getting rid of his 71 or 72 SS chevelle. He says he also regrets not buying an e body when he had the chance a while ago, if i could only time travel...

I can remember older guys telling me just what your dad did while I was driving my convertible R/T in college. "I should have never sold that SS or Chevy II or Mustang or R/T". I knew then and there that I was not every going to say that about my convertible because I knew that was the care I'd regret selling like they did. I guess I learned from their mistakes. So after i parked it and bought and sold homes, my wife always asking, "are you going to get rid of that", I kept telling her NO! Now it's almost done and I'm pretty sure I'll get it into the Mopar Magazines by next year. :-)

The difference is the Conv. Hemi option... that's why they are worth millions now. I think Blake told me his 71 is one of six hemi conv. for 1971 and because his has factory billboard strips, orange, wing, 4sd and shaker it's considered one of the two best optioned. He actually needs to sell one of the three and diversify his investments. He could walk away with a million or two cash and thats after bying a 440 sixpack convertible or Daytona/Superbird to replace the hemi cuda. Now if he has three boys or children (I don't think so), then perhaps that's a different story!
