R/T Transmission problem
Has anyone had this happen to them?
I was heading into work this morning at 70 mph with the cruise set. Suddenly I heard a noise that I thought was something that I picked up from the road. It sounded like I was dragging something under my car. I pulled over and put it in neutral. I then could not get the tranny into any gear, and when I let off the clutch in neutral there was a mechanical whirring noise. I turned the car off and restarted it. I could then not get it into 6th gear. I've got 6200 miles on the beast and can't believe I have issues since I don't dog it much. |

I have an RT with the same trans but no issues. Would be interested to hear what you find.

That's what it felt like. The dealership told me Friday that it's a bag input shaft bearing on the tranny. The part should be in this morning and hopefully be fixed this afternoon. I'm not sold on this being the only problem. I'll keep you posted.

I've heard of that same exact situation, but the person was still able to get it into gear(just not 2nd), but not to worry i'm sure the dealer will get it fixed.

Regarding Transmission Problem
Any update? I've been having trouble with 1st to 2nd since new; dealer pulled transmission and greased up the input shaft and bearing but not much better.

I've had my car back for about a month now. It runs as good as when I first got it. There is still notchyness when it's cold. But it runs hard and fast like it's supposed to. As far as “greasing” the input shaft and bearing, I’d be careful. Those components are designed to be lubricated by oil, not grease. Keep any documentation on this service so if it becomes an issue you can have proof that your certified Dodge service department did it. I don’t know if they can void warranty coverage because of this, but Chrysler has tightened their warranty policy since the started the “Lifetime” power train stuff. Good luck with your Chally.

Thanks Kevin, that is obviously very good information. Please let us know if you encounter any further issues. I have had no issues with my R/T, and it is equipped, it sounds like, identically to yours.
Be carefull out there. |
