ProCharger is currently installing the Sc

When I am allowed to take pics I will take some for everyone. They say that tomorrow I can take the tour and take a peek at it. I can't wait. Is there someone VERY knowledgable on 5.7 motors that can tell me exactly what internals need t be swapped out if I raise boost levels? Exactly....I mean, what brands, sizes, etc, so I can go buy them. Also what about this Magnaflow exhaust, are they out for our 09' R/T yet?

Well, I'm really intersted in your Procharger (also envious, lol) for your R/T.
The "rotating assembly" is what's usually upgraded when doing boost.
The rotating assembly is:
crankshaft
connecting rods
pistons
I've been trying to find out if the '09 HEMI rotating assembly is the same as previous years. I can't verify this info yet with anyone.
If it's the same there are many different ways to go with forged internals/rotating assembly.

I have confirmed that the "heads" and pistons are different than in previous years.
The heads flow more now which is an improvement. They were awesome before but are now even better.
The pistons are also improved.
They have the top "ringland" lower now. This is better for boost.
I'll also add that if the pistons are changed you'll be better off to get "dished" pistons.
The dished pistons will lower the compression for the boost.
Procharger will give you between 5-7 lbs of boost on your stock internals.
This will be very safe and will make your Challenger into a beast.

IF the crank/connecting rods are the same as previous years the pistons would be easy enough to get made.
You can have 3 options with forged internals:
stock displacement: swap to 6.1L crank use Manley Performance rods, (pistons would be determined)
370 stroker: 6.1L crank offset ground
392 stroker: Callies/Compstar crank/rods/diamond pistons

The car sounds nice and I look forward to seeing the numbers also.

I my have missed this discussion before, but has anyone compared the cost/value of taking an R/T and heavily modifying it with simply buying an SRT8 off the floor. I don't have the exact numbers in front of me - but it seems you will be spending at least $6,000 on a supercharger install, around $1,000 or more in brakes, and another $1,000 in aftermarket suspension mods. So conservatively, if you have another $8,000 over the purchase price doesn't that bring you up to SRT8 territory?

How much power do they expect to add with 5 or 6 lbs. of boost? 100 HP?

I'm not questioning you decision personally, it's just that I am going through the same process myself as I decide whether to order an R/T or SRT8. I apologize if this has been discussed before and also for semi-hijacking your thread.

The SRT8 does not come with a fully forged motor either. So if you want to run a decent amount of boost then your going to build one anyways. If you build one bored it and stroke it to a 426 not to 6.1L Then you will see some really power being put down.

The SRTs are great and have 50 more hp. I like the interior and exterior of the R/T better. I ordered a loaded R/T with the intention of getting it to 550+ hp. That involves a Vortech V-3 sc @ $8,000 and a MagnaFlow Cat-Back Exhaust @ $1,500. The Brembos are pricey; I'm going to wait to see how the factory brakes perform with my 6 speed. If you like the appearance of the SRT, then the SRT is a better initial value for the hp, suspension and brakes than the R/T. Plus, when you decide to add the SC to the SRT you are looking at closer to 600 hp....nice..... Whatever you decide, you'll have a great car.

The SRTs and the R/Ts both .

If you look at the dyno,s posted the srt only has a very small hp advantage(IE:5-10rwhp). FYI

DYNO last week

I went to ProCharger last week and my factory RT did 318 to the back wheels and 346lbs. torque. They also have a SRT there and it did 370 to the back wheels but I forgot what it's torque was. They should have my car done whinin a few weeks. I guess the testing after its done takes longer than the install itself. As soon as it gets done I'm buying the Dynomax system from Moe's.
