1M42: Congratulations. I know how excited you are...like a kid waiting for Christmas morning !!! I took delivery of my R/T last Thursday....and I've been having a great time ever since. Check with the dealer on the clutch break-in period....I was told 270 miles (first 60 miles: under 3000 rpm and under 50 mph / next 120 miles under 4000 rpm and under 60 mph / next 90 miles under 5000 rpm and under 70 mph). I don't know if that's accurate; but that's what my dealer told me. I've followed that schedule and hit 280 miles today. Now I can play a little (no launches yet / no smoky burnouts yet) until the magic 500 mile number when I head to the local 1/4 mile !!

Have a great Tuesday; you're going to love that Tremec and the 3.92 rear end. The 5.7 is a strong runner.

ENJOY

Why does it take so long once the car is built to have it delivered? When I bought my mustang a few years back it took about 4 days from when it was finished being built until I picked it up at the dealership. Three weeks seems way too long.

100 miles on the Chally thus far, a few observations: its a BIG car, it handles reasonably well for 2 tons. Paint is very good, interior is the best I have seen from Chrysler, to early on braking performance. exhaust note is SWEEEET, just saved me $1500 on a Borla, Zoomers and the rest. ^ speed is wonderful except for the occassional and very annoying 1st to 4th "auto shift".... stereo is fair. Ride quality is very good except the car will wonder over cement highway surfaces...

bad points: Momma Chrylser has gotten cheap in some areas.: unfinished paint under the hood and engine bay ara, cheap pot metal fuel filler door and the biggest dissappointement is the 20' optional chrome rims are just chrome plastics over some sort of wheel.....

You COULD get one "this week".

Just check dealers within a couple hundred miles and Ill bet they have one on their lot pretty close to what you ordered. "BX" status for that long means you could wait another 6 months. I would not stand for that nonsense. find a dealer that has one and buy it!

If these are the biggest complaints about this car, it is the best car EVER.

You must be very young because these complaints would not have been made by someone who was familliar with the 1970 era Challengers.

Uh, the fuel filler door was especially designed to have that retro look and the designers are very proud of that little feature. I think its awesome.

The 20" wheels are completely unnessary on this car and a huge waste of money and worse looking than the standard 18" aluminum wheels/tire. The 18" wheels look perfect and also "retro".

In fact, I believe the 1970-71 Challengers had either 14 or 15" inch wheels. YIKES, what were they thinking?

I loaded my '09 R/T . I like the 20" wheels and the Goodyear P245/45ZR20s and the 3.92 rear end that comes with that wheel and 6 speed package. The car handles beautifully on the 20s and looks great. I had an '06 300-C on 18s; the 20s are better. I had a '72 Challenger and, trust me on this, retro isn't necessarily great; it ran on F70x14 wide ovals...not much of a treat for handling, traction or braking. I like the fuel door, but the mechanicals on the '09 make the 1972 (and I loved my '72 back then) seem like a joke.

Different strokes, my man.

But I do think Dodge screwed you folks with the $1400 upcharge just for 20" fake chrome wheels and a slightly better tire. I figure those items really cost the factory about $400 more at most or $100 per wheel/tire.

Rock, I concur... it is a HUGE ripoff for the "chrome clad wheels".... deceitful on behalf of Chrysler, why not just describe them as being "glorified chrome hubcaps"....and be truthful... needles to say when the customer survey arrives in the mail....
