Thats what that is? I thought I forgot how to drive. What is the point of the skip shift?

I'm thinking its like the corvette, under no load, shift from 1-4-6 gets you to the od gears faster and improves mpg!
Takes the fun out of a six speed but is "fixable" with mentioned kit!

My Trans Am had that some annoying shift skip feature and an iCAGS eliminator was the 1st mod I did. It's very easy to install and is basically just a resister that tricks the computer into thinking that you are at a higher RPM than you are. Not sure if the Challengers have a light in the cluster like my TA, but the shift skip light will still come on.

so, is it a physical lockout that prevents you from selecting 2nd, 3rd, etc...forcing you into 4th, or just a "minder" light?

The 1-4 skipshift helps Dodge publish higher EPA fuel economy ratings for the R/T 6 speed. The auto w/ MDS posts 15 city and 23 highway. The manual 5.7 posts 16 city 25 highway. The 1-4 skipshift gives them the extra 1 mgp city; the 6th gear (manual trans only) is a .50 ratio that helps the R/T 6 speed get the 25 highway rating. I cruised I-65 in 6th gear; at 85 mph, the engine was running effortlessly at 2,000 rpm..... Nice cruising gear w/ great mpg. Now, you can eliminate the 1-4 skipshift a couple of ways. 1) A skipshift eliminator ($20) from various manufacturers. 2) The Predator will also eliminate the 1-4 skipshift while increasing your hemi's performance. ![]() I will be opting for the Predator. In the meantime, I just push the stick back up to 3rd when the skipshift intervenes and get better accelleration than I would have in 4th.

I installed the Skip Shift Eliminator in about 30 seconds this weekend... works like a champ and well worth the $20

You could also wait about a month for the HPTuners update, which will most likely include the NGC4 tuning ability. Don't get me wrong, I had a predator on my Duramax, but I would much rather be able to actually tune the car.
