Hello all, my first post. I am in the market for a new RT. Today I looked at 2 of them at Murray Dodge in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. The MSRP for both were $34,040. Then they had a seperate sticker that added $99.00 for wheel locks and $1,999 for Fair Mark Value . This made the total price over $36000. What the heck is this fair market value BS??? I read these posts and see you guys buying under MSRP. I was working so didnt have time to ask the salesman.

Every R/T that i see here in West Texas is completely loaded. They're all right about 39k a piece. I don't even ever see any SEs!

It seems that they graciously added wheel locks on the wheels....hmmmmm, thats $25. a lock...unbelievable
Are they gold plated or something? LOL The "fair market" price is their attempt at price gouging. There are a lot of people now getting these cars at MSRP or under, and in this economy no one should be paying a mark up price. If they won't budge on that marked up price I would go to another dealership and see if they could get the car for you at a better price. |

It's the same here in Seattle. At some dealerships they have the window sticker and then another sticker that says "Drive It Now Price" which is of course much higher. I told the guy I'd like the drive-it-later price, but in the end I just went to a different dealership and ordered one for under MSRP.
There's no way they are going to be able to get these over MSRP prices. There are too many cars out there and not enough demand. -Dave |

Markup plain and simple.
Hey guys, new to the forum and have one on order myself. Basically, since the rest of the stuff on the lot isnt selling, they are trying to make the most off every Challenger they get. That "sucker" sticker is simply b.s. You can buy these for 1500 over invoice all day and they will be happy. Trust me. But if you are wanting the hard to get options like 6 speed and stuff, you are going to have to order or just wait a few months. But the best deal you will find if you want and he will order is at a small dealership in Sheldon Iowa named Ron Drenkow Motors. Small family owned and they will sell you whatever you want below MSRP. My buddy bought an SRT for 42555. Beat that anywhere and I will be amazed. He told me 1500 over invoice was all butter to him. Call and talk to Steve (he is the son of the owner). Three week ordering window on RTs if not allocated. How that helps. Oh, also dont use Chysler financial, they are through the roofs with rates. Use Edmunds and get dealer invoice add 1500 and call steve. He will do it all day. He is in the business of selling cars, not collecting them like other dealerships.

Do you mean you can order what you want in 3 weeks? I just sold my truck and am now anxious to get my Challenger. The closest "Plain Jane" Silver R/T is 5 hours away in Olathe Kansas. |

Depends on build time
You are right on the build time issue. And I know that my SRT 6 speed just completed build and will be in transit for a couple of weeks. If you find a dealership that has an allotted car, they can call and either change the build, or they can swap cars with another dealership (if they got peeps) and get you the car they want. But what I was saying about that guy up close to here will basically deal for cheap. He sells cars, period. I grew up in STL myself, which stealership are you referring...Southtown? Good luck. Dude here is cool. My dad and friend drove up to get his. No wassle, no pressure, no worries. An SRT for 42555 is at invoice. He will order whatever you want for propably 500 to a thousand over invoice. They make the holdback at invoice anyways and this is the only car Dodge is selling at any volume. Just an honest dude making money and creating business relationships.
