A 6.4 Hemi in a Cuda would be a winning ticket, all Chrysler and Dodge have to do is stay in buisness long enough or not get sold by Daimler to do all this. High gas prices, economy in a recession and everyone feeling the pinch of the gas prices equalls less people walking into dealerships around the country looking for new car, especially high dollar, low gas milage performance muscle car throw backs also throw on the dealers sticking on the "Adjusted market value" of 10k or so on the cars. All this spells for some stagnet sales. But thats just me, I hope everything turns around for us all and Dodge but you never know. If they do make a 6.4 in a retro Cuda style, I will have to go out and either sale my SRT8 Challenger or just buy another one.

2010 6.4 maybe?

With emmissions getting stricter and stricter, they may need the larger displacement just to keep the power levels up, but maybe at a lesser rate than they are right now. I think that this is the time to buy a performance car, just like it was time to buy a Diesel Truck back in 06, before the smog particulate traps were mandated. I have heard the new diesels don't get as good mileage as the ones from just a couple of years ago. My Cousin is into Audi's and he said that Audi said that the next generation of cars will be less powerfull. This may be true or not, but I won't wait for two years to see and then be stuck with buying a used performance car. That's all I was able to afford before and they were all beat to death and I had to fix them. I don't want to do that too much right now, so I'll be ordering a Challenger in a month or so and hope I'm not jealous of the people that are buying Challengers in a couple of years that have more power.

You got a good point, and enjoy the hell out of your car when you get it. Look what happened to the american cars in the early 80's and late 70's when the government bailed out Chrysler? I think in the next few years you will see the death of any performance in american cars, and well revert back to no horsepower commuter cars. The american car industry is struggling right now and it dosent look good in the near future for them. All these new Challengers could really send things around for Dodge with the affordability of the SE model and the pleasing retro looks, but the dealers and their greed will jack that all up. They could end up and sell a tremendous amount of 09 SE Challengers like the Mustangs did a few years ago and really recreat the following for some of the more younger car buyers and not have to bank on the older buyers who are way big into muscle cars that have been waiting 30+ years for come back around. But the dealers and the markups and attitude they give when you walk in off the street looking at the cars, not offering test drives, and not negotiating with the cars is what is going to really put the sales behind. If they were smart they would be trying to sell them as fast as they can get them off the line and on the lots, but they hold on to them as if they are a rare and collector car thats going to bring in top dollar and you would be lucky to have such a car. Dont get me wrong I love my 08 Challenger and waited for 2yrs to get it but the dealers are going to ruin any sort of Dodge come back the new car would of waved in. Thats just my opion.

Its tought to predict whaere things will go. I'm still hopefull that next year they will put out a convertible, but who knows.

Just as an aside, I was talking to my friend who ownes a Dodge dealership and he said he isn't going to order any R/T's or SRT-8's unless a customer preorders them. He is only ordering SE's. He feels the gas prices are such that only the economical cars will sell and he doesn't want to get stuck holding on to any high perfromance inventory.

The next six months should say a lot.

I believe that we have to get 'em while their hot..or at least still making them. CAFE standards mandating 35+mpg over the next several years will effectively reduce the horsepower of most gasoline engines. They have to develop performance cars using other fuels. I'm a big fan of hydrogen since it costs less than gasoline, provides more power per unit and is a vast natural resource in the U.S.A. Remember the 400 h.p. Charger at the Auto Shows a few years back; it was a running vehicle fueled by hydrogen. I own a couple of Quick Lubes. One of our larger fleet accounts has 20+ trucks...all of which run on hydrogen. They are low emissions, low maintenance, high mileage and the fuel is inexpensive. And, since they get great mileage and run on alternative fuel, the owners save money on fuel while collecting federal alternative fuel tax credits (individuals can also claim these on their tax returns). So, it's a win-win. The only current problem is that there are releatively few hydrogen filling stations. That should change quickly if car manufacturers start building hydrogen cell vehicles; those could run high horsepower while still contributing to the CAFE standards for the Big 3.

I think the dealers should be ordering R/Ts for inventory (if not SRT8s). The R/Ts hitting our local dealers are selling within 2-3 days of arrival at MSRP...and people are happy to get them.

Let's enjoy our high performance Challengers while we can!!!! I plan to keep mine for a very long time.......

I wonder what the reality is for the 6.4 ever making the market now with all the merger talk. If GM absorbs chrysler who knows what might happen to dodge.

indeed manbearpig. If the merger goes ahead kiss it goodbye.

Part of the reason I got and probably will keep my 2008 SRT8 500 cdn edition car is because:

Chrysler is in such dire straits and pinching pennnies..

Chrysler has more important priorities like redoing their midsized cars and finding a small car..

The merger talk..

The political climate for gas guzzler..

I personally have no doubt eh 6.4 wa spart of the plaqn I just don't know if it can be anymore..

The squashed the convertible... There won't ever be a cuda or any other plymouth nameplate..

I would love to see the 6.4 but my hopes aren't high.. If it does come to pass there will be a for sale sign on my beloved challenger the same day.
