Any one heard if this is going to be a go? The 6.4 and the new platform? if so what all is diff on the new platform?
![]() <DIV class=article_container>SRT engineers are secretly developing the next SRT choice of powerplant - the 6.4 liter Hemi V8. The same engine that was shown to us SEMA fans late last year. Noting SEMA showing of the engine’s output at 510 Horsepower and 510-lbs of Torque, this beast maybe the top of its field when produce. Not to forget about two more Hemis (inlcuding a SuperHemi) will be joining the lineup but one may replace the current 6.1ltr in the foreseeble future. Retro engines are making a comeback. The 2010 Dodge Challenger SRT8 will reside on the next generation ‘LY’ platform [codenamed LCX23] that will be shared by the 2009 Chrysler 300 ’D’, 2010 Dodge Charger, and hopefully the 2009 Dodge Magnum wagon. Yet, let me also reveal the mysterious fastback coupe that will share the same Challenger components that maybe dubbed the Cordoba. Planned production date begins in April 0f 2008 at the Brampton Plant. |

I'm not exactly sure which mag.( MOPAR, MOPAR ACTION, or MOPAR MUSCLE)
Aug. issue. It has the 2009 Red R/T on the cover. Last paragraph of the story said that we will have to wait til end of 2009 (as a 2010 model) for the 6.4L and a convertible!!!!!!!!!! |

More than happy to wait, that 6.4L is going to be a beast. I'm waiting for that 6.4L for sure.

the only thing that will stop me from getting a 2009 SRT is the possiblity of a 6.4 in a 'cuda.

Something tells me that they will phase out the 6.1 and replace it with the
6.4. 475-525 hp range. And up the anti on the 5.7 to about 400 hp. IMO! |

Mopar Action Magazine states that the 6.4 will be out late in '09 either as a late '09 or '10 model....I think the ragtop is '10 and the 6.4 is '09 from their phrasing. But....that's all conjecture. Chrysler LLC hasn't even been able to produce and deliver the cars that their customers have ordered yet....at least mine which was ordered 11 weeks ago and still no scheduled build date ! So....I'm not holding my breath on any of these other engines / options / models........ I'd just like them to build what's been ordered so far !

Also are they really thinking about bringing back the Magnum?

I think your right because 425HP just doesn't get it anymore....That would be a good number for the R/T but the top line car SRT needs 500+ HP to stay with the mustang and camaro.

If the Magnum was a two door, it would have been a HUGE success.
