Subwoofer
Is there any way to adjust the bass of the subwoofers other than using the equalizer?

If it has an amp, and they say it does, then you should be able to adjust the output level from there! Hope it helps.

I just got my 2010 SRT8 about 3 weeks ago. I HATED the sound of that sub! If you only listen to rap, it might be OK, but it only plays about 3 notes, and on those, it rattles your teeth out, on the rest, there's almost no bass.
I am a broadcast engineer / audio engineer, and a bass player BTW. I simply couldn't stand the sound of the stereo...it sounded much better with the sub dissconnected. So, I started exparamenting with the sub. I found a very simple way to tune-out the boom. I started with a stock measurement with my real time analyzer (RTA). It fully confirmed what my ears were hearing...a giant peak at about 30-40hz. For about $2 worth of parts, I was able to tune the boom out of that Kicker sub...here's how... Remove the sub (just one screw at the top, a little velcro at the bottm and pull the plug). Remove the driver (remove all 8 screws...4 hold the grill, and the other 4 behind to pull the driver). Install 1/2 inch, nylon spacers behind the driver. Do this for all 8 screws. I held the spacers in place with a drop of glue on each of them. You will need some slightly longer #8 screws however...I think I used inch and a quarter. After the mod, the measurements with the RTA still show a strong low-end, but the big tooth rattling peak is pulled down about 6db. Sound SO much better / smoother / flatter now! You can actually hear all the bass notes. Again, if you just listen to rap or hip-hop, don't do this mod, you probably like the sound of all that boom. For anyone else that likes to hear more than 3 bass notes, this simple mod is highly recommenced. (and you can put it back to full-stock by removing the spacers) |
