On the Dodge site they list a forged aluminum or a clad chrome wheel in 20" sizes. Is there an option for the Chrome wheel? How do I get this wheel option on the 09 order for chrome wheels? Then I would not have to polish a forged wheel.
http://www.dodge.com/en/2009/challen.../wheels_tires/ Also notice on the Dodge site, that selecting the 20" rims chome or forged aluminum they list the diff tires. The auto and stick have the same tire even though it list them seperate from what I can tell. I know the stadard tire is an all weather performance tire, and you can for a few bucks get the performance higher end tire, but I also noticed that there is also an option for the same performance F1's in a 255 insted of a 245. How do you get this and is this for the rear tire only? Guess I am confused. Do they come with 245s in the front and 255s in the rear for 09s? Eagle RS is standard Eage F1 is the option correct? This is from the 08s page. 245/45ZR20-Front 255/45ZR20-Rear Performance Tires $50 And then how about the wheel being chrome etc option code? Last edited by djwhog : 05-16-2008 at 07:30 AM. |

Little more details
OK fyi, if you do go with F1s over the RS you get about $200 more in tire do to the larger size and the cost of the tires. Not bad for a $50 upgrade!
Both are Y speed rated as far as I can tell which is 186MPH! Tread life rating 220. Reviews say they are great on 75 degree + days and stick great. On cool days even with no water they feel like ice are comments I have read. Others though say they are not bad on water, but the RS is much better and still a very HP tire with a Y rating as well. |

So have not heard anything yet, but I mentioned the other day Dodge on the web site shows a 20" chrome wheel, any buddy pick up on this or know about it? I have the dealer I orded my 09 looking into it.
It is not on the list of options, but yet they talk about it on the web page? Nixx , Sandman anybody... thanks guys! In fact since the post I did the other day they made a change to the web site on the tire/wheel page in picture and words. http://www.dodge.com/en/2009/challen.../wheels_tires/ A genuine force to be reckoned with, Challenger R/T comes standard with 18-inch cast aluminum machined wheels with sport-tuned Michelin® MXM4® tires. Optional for this beauty are 20-inch chrome-clad cast-aluminum wheels with either sport-tuned Goodyear Eagle RS-A® tires (included with R/T five-speed AutoStick®) or Goodyear Eagle RS-A®/SRT® performance tires (included with six-speed manual transmission). This is why the SRT's wheels are what they are...
The wheels are forged for added strength, and to save weight, , which cuts down on spinning mass, which robs horsepower. They use a good wheel, and they use it on all of their SRT cars which probably keeps the price down, and if you want comparible forged upgrade. then look to spend $6000-8000. The chrome 20" wheels are aluminum cast (cheap crap compared to the forged or any forged wheel) and will not clear the Brembo brakes. Performance cars require performance parts. You could always have the SRT 20's polished, chromed, or painted/powder coated, or a combination of the 2 or 3!
Hope this helps. |
