Can anyone explain the features of the Auto?
I understand it can be manually shifted. Does each push forward shift up one and hold till you bump to another??
You don't push forward with this auto trans., shifting is done by pushing the shifter to the right! When you hit the rev limit it will shift automatically to the next gear. I have found in the last 2 years with my 300C SRT8 there is no need to go through the gears but to let the trans do the work when dragging.

Gotta Shift It Yourself

I ordered my R/T...my daily driver .....with the 6 speed Tremec...billed as

butter smooth and quick shifting. Can't wait to bang through the gears on

that bad boy. Probably not the best in our Midwest snow w/ the 3.91

axle....I'll have to share a car with my wife (her front-wheel driver) during our NW Indiana snow storms....

R/t with 6 speed gets more H/P & Torque. Great choice! Arrest me red with some stripes is what thinking of. Have auto in Charger. Miss banging some gears.

Sounds like that Charger of yours runs hot. 0-60? 1/4 mile ET?
When I ordered the R/T in Inferno Red Crystal Pearl, I also purchased a Valentine 1 Radar unit. I figured they're looking at me so I ought to know where they are...... Are you ordering a Challenger or hanging with your Charger? My R/T is going to Speedfactory for Stage 1 S/C as soon as it arrives.....I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas morning to open presents !!

I would love to have gotten the 6sp but after driving it in some back country roads and messing around with it. i am kind of happy with the auto stick. with the power it has and will have soon trign to not over rev or have the rear step out on the shifts would be hard. as for the launh, yea i do miss the clutch but what can you do its a give and take. not use to the aotu yet but i am sure when i get to be i will me able to get a good take off

Ok since I am getting the 6 spd., this means there will be no other drivers. Tthe wife can't drive a stick and if the kids come for a visit, they can not drive it either!
Ok, I have a question in regards to rev limiting.
The Auto shifts should you reach redline right?
If I floor the accelerator and power shift, will the rpms be limited to prevent over reving?

Thanks

I ordered a 6 speed R/T; I'm not certain that there is a limiter on the manual...but......With the sophisticated Engine Management Systems in these high performance cars now, I believe that there is a fuel shut-off rev limit so you don't blow the engine or trans by accident.

From personal experience with my '06 300 C, the AutoStick shifts for you (even in manual mode) from first to second if you over-rev. I never exceeded revs in 2nd or higher because the power curve with the 2nd gen 5.7 was weak at high rpms....better to shift 300-400 rpm below redline in the stock 300 C.

When I ordered the R/T w/ 6 speed, my wife commented that she doesn't know how to drive manual; my comment was "I know; that's an added bonus to the 6 speed"!!!! My 17 year old step-son (who shouldn't be driving anything anyway...horrible driver) wants to drive my R/T when it comes in...told him "NO WAY EVER". My 20 year old son drives a Ford F-150 w/ 5 speed manual; that boy can shift a manual better than anyone else that I know; I will let him drive it...with me riding shotgun...

Any idea when your 6 speed is coming in? I ordered mine on 06/17 and am still in C status..... They're supposed to be building 6 speed R/Ts already, so I don't understand why mine hasn't hit the assembly line yet....Anyone else have a firm build status or already in production? If so, please let me know: your current status, when you ordered and what area you're in; I'm in NW Indiana. Can't wait to drive that bad boy !!

Yea i just got rid of a 07 eclipse gt 6sp and that did have a rev limiter but it still sucked all it does is cut fuel off for a sec to keep you under the or near red line so you just bounce right there at red line. (listen to some of the 350z drifting and you will hear what i am talking about.) I still over reved even with it when i missed a shift, it was blown at 7 psi and 407 whp and blew a piston. so i would not trust the rev limiter on them and shift just before hand until you get use to it and able to time everything right.

now as for the auto stick, that sucks as well in the challenger srt8 cause it will shift for you when it hits high rpms and the redline. even if you dont ant it to say tring to drift it or have fun. so you have to learn to feather the gas to keep it going and hvae fun. someting i am still learning how to do. its not like the toy and stomp 2nd and slide for ever. but the auto stick does come in handy as well there are good points and bad at the same time. but i have to say i am happy with it. the auto stick
