I believe it can only be done on the SRT8 by holding down the ESP button for more then 10 seconds,
but for the SE it can only be done by using a Predator. |

Get the car to at least 10mph, then hold the key to the right until you hear a chime. You should see the esp lights come on on the dash.

Esp?
what would the advantage be by disabling ESP totaly instead of just pushing the button to turn off?

to do a better burnout. or during drag racing where you don't want the computer to limit the cars' power.

The SE can be temp disabled by the method above:
Get the car to at least 10mph, then hold the key to the right until you hear a chime. You should see the esp lights come on on the dash. You loose your ABS also so be careful... To completely diable ESP, search the forum threads or goto No ESP, complete SRT-Style ESP Disable Solution. Last edited by 2009SE; 03-13-2010 at 11:12 AM. |

How is this different than shutting off with the ESP button?

As for which setting will net you your best times it depends on your car / driving skills. If you lose traction badly then the torque management will help improve the situation. (like in nascar) If you cam manage your own slippage then you will get better 1/4 times with it off. If you want to drift, or just spend a bit of money smoking tires up, then off is the way to go.... I should also not that when you use the key trick or install a switch to kill ESP you are also disabling the ABS so be aware of the reduced stopping power and plan accordingly... Have fun..
