I was going to get an Inferno Red SE but changed my mind after seeing them in person..
Now I am getting a DWB and set it up similar to the `Cuda I used to have..

I am not planning on drag racing on the streets anymore, did that years ago, until I got a ticket..
That put an end to that real quick..

When I first bought my '72 `Cuda it had a 210 HP V-8 340ci. that got about 14mpg..
I had the motor redone to get 450HP and 9mpg

a 250 hp V-6 will do just fine for me and should get about 20mpg avg..

I had always wanted the `Cuda painted Candy Apple Burgundy..
The Challenger in Inferno Red is close to the Burgundy, but it is just tooooooo
hit or miss as to whether it will be good looking 'shade' of the Inferno..
(Now if they had the same color as the new `Vettes, no doubt I would get that..)

I also have the V6 and really like the way it handles. You can't compare it to the 8 but that little 6 really has a kick in it. I get really decent gas milage too.

I got to test drive a V6 and an R/T with the 6 speed manual. The V6 was nice, very smooth, and peppy(felt a bit more powerful than my 2000 Celica). From a dead stop the accelaration is pretty good but it starts lagging at 30mph.

Then we got in the R/T... aside from the amazingly quick 0-60 time(I wasn't really trying, no idea how fast I got there, but it was very fast), the thing that impresses is the way your pant legs vibrate as you accelerate.

I could sell my Celica and get the SE tomorrow with a reasonable monthly payment, or save up a good downpayment over the course of a year... I'll wait the year for the Hemi. I'm a young(single) man, and I've never had a muscle car. This will be a car I plan to have for a very long time, so whats an extra 5k(and 1 less mpg) for all the extra joy the Hemi can deliver?

No worries about getting a ticket if ya don't speed. It is illegal to break the speed limit, but it's perfectly legal to get TO the speed limit as fast as you possibly can.

That is true, and something I won't rule out. However I like the idea of the lifetime warranty on the powertrain(only for the original owner).

Plus by then the 2010 will be out, and who knows what could happen there.

true and by the way it seems like the sales on the challenger really arent doing to well, I haven't seen actuall sales reports but I think it would be great if they discontinued only because I'm one of the very few that has one. Sorry if I made anyone upset by that statement but thats the way I feel. I really don't know how the bailout plan for the auto industry is going to help but it seems as they are really in truoble and if so do you believe they will continue w/ cars like the challenger, consider the magnum and how quickly it was discontinued and i thought it did great! What do you think?

Actually I kinda hope they do stop making the Challenger soon. I like how you don't see them on the road unlike Mustangs and Chargers(I can walk outside, throw a rock at the road and probably hit one of those two). It'll be much cooler to own a Chally if their rare.

It would be great if they stopped making them for the people that have one and really bad for those who don't. Simply stating the facts shouldn't make anyone upset.

Haha ya. I mean I would love for the muscle car era to come back but on the other hand my car would be worth alot more to me personally because its not overproduced like the stang and in the long run much more valuble collector car wise. I am on both sides of this issue haha.

If I could find a DeepWaterBlue SE with the 26G package anywhere
near me it would be snatched up, PRONTO. I keep getting the 'they
are not painting DeepWaterBlue SEs yet' speech. I keep getting strung along
by the many dealerships I have contacted in my area. They all want to 'order'
me one for a $500 deposit that I dont currently have. So I tell them that
the first one to produce a DeepWaterBlue 2009SE 26G Challenger gets
my busisness. They are not biting and put me in the nutjob folder.
I cant even get close enough to a SE to drive it as they are non-existant
at the dealerships around here. The R/Ts and SR/Ts abound with a few
STR8s here and there but zero SEs. If they come in, they were custom
ordered and a test drive is out of the question. They display them for the
short time they have them before the owner comes to pick it up but
thats all. No sitting in it, driving it or even crawling under it. Talk
about dangling the carrot.....
