Next Gen, new story

Hey all, new to the boards here and just wanted to share a fun little anecdote. I took my youngest son with me when I purchased my Challenger a few days ago, (I hadn't originally had the intentions of buying one) and I actually got to pull the car out of the showroom floor.

My father did the same with me when I was an infant. He drove his 1974 Z28 off the showroom floor a month after I was born, and now that very same car is sitting in my garage awaiting restoration. I'm hoping to do the same with my Challenger when my son is old enough to drive. My first car having been that Z28. I still don't know what possessed my father to give me such a powerful car but I thank him for the experience.

Anyhoo, I hope to be a regular on the boards and can't wait to share my experiences with you all.

Stuff like that is what really matters, some of my best childhood memories involve me and my father working on his Mopars. Now days I enjoy drag racing with him and my daughter loves to ride up to the staging lanes with us and has even asked if she can drive, and she is only 3!

I remember going to Chevy with my Dad when he bought his '67 Camaro. He taught me to drive in that car (even though I wasn't 16 yet). I drove it on county roads in Wisconsin on vacation and learned to handle a car under Dad's instruction. He taught me to power-slide a car, many evasive actions and how to have fun safely in a car. I was with him when he bought his '71 Charger as well. I have many happy memories of Dad and thought of him when I ordered my '09 Challenger R/T. I miss him; he passed away in 2001, but we were great friends as well as father and son. Alot of our great memories centered around cars. I taught my son the same things. We trade vehicles for the day or week from time to time (I drive performance cars; he drives a souped up F-150). Those of you with children take note: these memories are priceless to a child of any age. Do as much together as you can. They'll love the things you love. Thanks, NotchEight for starting this forum.
